Scale-up Worker

A work route for qualifying roles with approved fast-growing UK businesses, combining an initial sponsored period with greater later flexibility.

UK service model: this website provides general information only. Personalised UK immigration advice, legal fact-finding, instructions and application services are provided separately by an appropriately regulated UK immigration adviser or law firm. Request contact from the regulated UK partner →

Initial sponsorship

The applicant needs a qualifying job offer and Certificate of Sponsorship from an approved scale-up business.

Initial period

The applicant must work in the sponsored job for at least the initial required period; after that, the route allows substantially more employment flexibility.

Settlement

The route includes a settlement pathway, but the applicant must meet the separate residence and financial requirements.

Long-term position

Settlement and citizenship

Current GOV.UK guidance provides a potential ILR route after 5 years, subject to the qualifying residence, earnings and other settlement requirements.

Key considerations: The sponsoring business must satisfy the Home Office requirements for an approved Scale-up sponsor.
